Founded as the North Kent Decorative and Fine Arts Society (NKDFAS) in 1968, this society meets in the afternoon of the second Monday of the month, except in August and September. The size of our main venue is such that we do not have have a waiting list, and prospective members can come as guests for a small donation, see the 'Joining us' page under the 'Our Society' tab. We endeavour to be flexible on numbers depending upon our overall membership, so it is generally possible to join during a year. We hope to remain popular with visitors to our meetings.

Members receive the quarterly 'THE ARTS SOCIETY REVIEW' magazine and our own half yearly North Kent newsletter. A copy of our last North Kent Newsletter can be downloaded from the documents item of the drop-down menu under the 'Our Society' tab.

Lecture meetings in the Crofton Hall in Orpington start at 2.0pm (apart from the AGM in November that starts at 1.30pm to allow the lecture to start promptly at 2.0pm). Those attending are invited to stay on after our lectures for coffee or tea and biscuits.

Members are encouraged to bring a guest for a one-off donation of £8 but please also notify the Membership Secretary Ann Wilkes.

We have at least two Study courses per year, and these often extend over the same weekday (usually Friday) of two or more successive weeks. These are held in the Ripley Arts Centre in Bromley (see 'Where we meet). The lecture usually starts at 10.0 am and tea and coffee are served during a comfort break midway through the morning lecture.

We also arrange visits each year to houses, museums, galleries, gardens or exhibitions of interest. See our 'Tours and Visits' page.
